Industrial Affiliate

Our industry partners are invited to affiliate with MMRI at no annual fee. MMRI Industry Affiliates’ activities include one or more of the following:
  • Sponsor research in at least one MMRI faculty research group.
  • Regular user of (MC)2.
  • Participate in the Annual MMRI Summit, including a presentation on the partnership.
  • Participate in a MMRI-hosted workshop on campus to explore and germinate deeper engagement with the intent on partnering with specific faculty on sponsored projects.
Benefits to industry include:
  1. Direct access to faculty expertise on campus in engineered materials.
  2. No-fee participation in the Annual Materials Research Summit.
  3. Knowledge of the MMRI internally funded research projects and other new developments in research facilities and centers on campus.
  4. Access to UM students and postdoctoral researchers for internship recruitment, workforce development at the workshops.
  5. Facilitated, deep-dive workshop on campus by an Industry affiliate in technology challenge areas relevant to that industry to develop joint UM-industry research projects.
  6. Partnership with MMRI faculty on federally funded research grants.
