Alan Taub

Alan Taub received his Bachelor’s degree in Materials Engineering from Brown
University and his Master’s and Ph.D. degrees in Applied Physics from Harvard. Taub
has held various leadership positions at GE, Ford and General Motors, including serving
as GM’s Vice President of Global Research and Development. He was elected to the
National Academy of Engineering and is a Fellow of TMS and SME. Since joining the
University of Michigan he helped to establish and served as CTO of the Manufacturing
USA Institute LIFT and presently serves as the director of the Michigan Materials
Research Institute. His research explores the influence of nanoparticles on the mechanical
and electrical properties of both metals and polymer composites.
