Ashley Bucsek

Ashley Bucsek is an assistant professor of Mechanical Engineering at The University of
Michigan. She joined the faculty in September, 2019. Prior to that, she was a President’s
postdoctoral fellow at the University of Minnesota and earned her PhD from Colorado
School of Mines. Her research combines cutting-edge in-situ X-ray diffraction
microscopy techniques with micromechanical theory to study the microscale deformation
and evolution of structural and functional materials. She currently serves on the executive
user committees for the Cornell High Energy Synchrotron Source and Advanced Photon
Source. She is the recipient of a 2022 NSF CAREER award and a 2023 AFOSR YIP
award.
